words & adventures

Mondays with Abba

After working a crazy busy shift yesterday at Anthro I slept in this morning until 10 #blessed
Woke up to some good ole Ben Howard acoustics and my windows still wide open. After all this rain we’ve been having, the sunshine waking me instead of my alarm was just what I needed.
I threw on a pair of yoga pants (because who wears regular pants on a Monday?) and left my house with half an hour to spare before class.
1. I always wake up late (working on it)
2. Even when I wake up with enough time I like to procrastinate actually getting out of my bed

Sooooo I have no idea why or how I left that early.
I’ve been praying for adventure in the quiet moments. To see how Jesus romances us in our day to day “boring”. Safe to say He heard me.
Hoped in my car, listened to some of my favorite music and decided to try a new coffee shop. 7 Leaves you are now my new favorite place to get a straight Matcha Iced Tea, hella good my friends. The macaroons looked super awesome but it was 10 in the morning so I had to hold myself back, it just means I’ll be making another trip at a more dessert appropriate hour.

There’s this tiny little farmers market stand thingy ma bob right next to my school and as I was passing it I totally heard the spirit say, hey go check it out let me show you what I have planned for the day.

Safe to say I will be spending A TON of time at this tiny little market. And how crazy I’ve been passing it for YEARS now never stopping by?!

If it had been my way this morning, I would have rolled out of bed 15 minutes late, grumpy and running to class. BUT surrendering the little moments allows for Jesus to show us the freaking beautiful world he has created, and gives us the chance to fully breathe in his presence and grace and his ability to take an extra 30 minutes in our wayyyy too busy world and show us how his spirit is working.

Monday morning, you were real good & soul filling. Never thought I would say that bout a Monday.
Thanks Jesus for leading me and allowing me to surrender control. You bring adventure in the mundane, and peace in the crazy.
Not bad for a Monday. Not bad at all.

Hidden House, Llamas, and the best unplanned day ever

Yesterday. Man oh man. We had no agenda no plan, nothin. (Other than Ary had to be home by 6) BUT STILL.

There’s something about just being with your Day 1s and laughing till you nearly pee your pants and listening to Beautiful Soul by Jesse McCartney that refuels your spirit.

After very badly trying to rap all of Bad and Boujee we made our way to Hidden House Coffee which is by the way in my humble (but right) opinion the best coffee in the OC. The Los Rios historic district of San Juan just cannot be beat, especially on a cool overcast day in a statement necklace and comfy shoes.

The chai tea aka heaven in a cup, while sitting in the overgrown garden couldn’t have made me feel more trendy even though yesterday was the first time I put on makeup in weeeeeeeks.

Side note- High school wasn’t the greatest for me, but two good things that came out of Northwood were my gal pals Sidney and Aryanna. AND GUYS I get to go to college with them, how awesome is that?!

As if the coffee wasn’t already the best, we found a full on petting zoo right around the corner. Llamas/Alpacas are now officially my favorite animal, I mean come on how can you not love them? All I could think of was Emperors New Groove (the most underrated movie of all time) because I swear this llama looked identical to Kuzco.

Driving down the coast gets me every time. I’m in the phase where life seems too short not to stick my head out of the car window. And with Sid playing the best of the best early 2000s Pop, my heart was full.

We made it to Pedro’s Tacos & took wayyyyy too many pictures on the San Clemente Pier, super awkwardly asking strangers to take a group photo (no social skills, sorry not sorry) and talked about how content we were. Because who knew a day with no plan could be that good?

Coffee, llamas, tacos, the beach and two of the greatest most beautiful friends on this whole planet. My soul is happy and full. Thankful for friends with free spirits and joyful hearts. Here’s to more days like yesterday.
